Mandarin Manx

I see it all the time,
the way of things,
how season follows season,
and flake follows leaf;
but don't ask me what it means--
you'd do as well to ask the apple
on the tray on the table
on the porch up the steps
why the wind blows, or
why Sally is prettier than Jane, or
why cats can't speak Chinese...
it's a mystery to me.

Still and all, I have observed that
when I call you,
you call back,
and that's a righteous joy
beyond explaining.

  3. "Righteous joy beyond explaining"

Ah, you know what it is when you have it, and what it was once you've lost it.

  4. Lovely. And that makes me happy too, for you, my friend. Hey! They sang "Too Bad" tonight and I thought of you!

    and that's a righteous joy

To have a friend who loves you and protects your fragile poet's heart is a rare and holy thing. You are blessed. I'm grateful to know you, Shay. Keep on truckin'! xo

  8. I think apples know more than they let on--they're shy about it though since that whole Eve thing. Loved this one, and am thankful that you're out here making my day with your words.

  9. Lovely, Shay. I loved this, it's sweet; surprising, too. I like the images in the beginning which make me think them backward...

  10. Taught Jules, mini-poodle, how to say 'aqua' (Spanish). The cat not speaking Chinese also dumbfounds me.

Righteous call back joy is wonderful
